River corridor ventilation analysis and riverfront planning strategy in Tianjin’s urban core area

River corridors are important potential wind path in cities. This paper took the river core area of Tianjin as research object. By using two ventilation indicators frontal index (FAI) and density (FAD), overall pedestrian level riverfront were quantitatively analyzed. The result showed that contrary to common belief, due high FAI area, corridor Tianjin’s did not play role but obstructed flow. Also low FAD indicator lead a better outdoor comfort summer worse winter.
